Your shortcut to Goal Achievement

Are you making reaching your objective difficult for yourself?

Are you making reaching your objective difficult for yourself?

Most people are. They set themselves goals and objectives without having any real action plan of how to achieve them, and I have to say I am quite often guilty of this myself. However, some goals which we set ourselves are ongoing and don’t need in detail action plans to get us there. So what follows may help you, it certainly has me.

A few years ago I had one of those AHA moments which I would like to share with you now. It was so simple and obvious that I could kick myself for not recognising it before, but there again, is often the most simple and obvious things which returned the best results.

I recognise that my goal achievement would be so much more simple and successful if I just remembered ONE thing, which is this:

“EVERY action I take will either take me closer to my goal achievement, or further from it!”

I said it was simple!

Of course, this is only true if you have a goal which you’re working towards.

So slow down and let this basic truth sink in. Then whenever you have two take an action which will impact one of your goals or objectives, simply ask yourself the question; is this taking me closer to goal achievement it? Or further away from goal achievement?

If the answer is FURTHER AWAY, then the action is simple. STOP and RECONSIDER! Change and redirect your action to take you another step closer towards achieving your objective.

So why this? …and why now?

The reason I have decided to write an article on the subject of goal achievement at this time, is that my wife, best friend and NAGGING conscience has spent some CONSIDERABLE time reminding and re-reminding me that I should address my constantly increasing waistline because it definitely has SWALLOWEN over the last few months.

My weight, fitness and goal achievement in this area has always been a problem and challenged during my adult life. However, by applying this simple rule to the equation I should get some dramatic results.

So if like me your goal is to become slim and fit, and stay that way, use this simple formula in this way.

When you feel like eating ask yourself the question is this taking me closer to my goal achievement? or further from it?

Your desire to eat may have been triggered by a habit or emotion, or you could be original hungry. But by asking yourself this question you have eliminated the possibility of unnecessary over eating. This same process would probably raise your awareness and another question which would be, what would be a good and healthy choice of food for your to eat?

Do you see how this simple questioning why new awareness and taking closer to your goal achievement? I hope so, because it can be used in many circumstances.

How true: “EVERY action I take will either take me closer to my goal achievement, or further from it!”

I have similar problem in my waistline, but more than that is my overall health, diabetic, high blood pressure, cholestero, etc. Lately, I have been slowly making headway by watching what I eat and drink, do a little exercise everyday and increasing exercise time each day.

My weight goal is to be at 175 lbs in twelve weeks from last January 15, 2010. I have shed around 12 lbs so far and I feel great.

I think drinking an alternative healthy drink helps me a lot. I am lucky to have been introduced to Yoli Truth Blast Cap, low calorie All Natural Antioxidant Vitamin and Mineral Beverage. Yoli has low glycemic index which is ideal for diabetics in avoiding sugar rich beverage in the market.

Enough said. I would like to send you my best wishes for a healthy you. I know from reading your article that only you can motivate yourself to do it. Good luck.

So simple but brilliant. The trick is to be mindful at all times of what you’re doing. I used to have a big problem wasting time on, eg, computer games. Now, I get a message from my gut (yes it talks to me!) saying, “This is really NOT helping you with ANYTHING that you want to achieve.” I still needed help in focussing, so I put my goals on my wall near to the computer (which unfortunately I’m still wedded to…). Thanks for the reminder.

This is so true. It is so easy to get distracted from your goal. Thinking about it this way and asking yourself the question if a particular action will take you TOWARDS your goal or FUTHER away form your goal is a way to make sure you stay focussed on the important things. Thanks for this reminder Kevin.
